Little things ……together we do

On18 February, 2011, A team of social worker accompanied by Clodo (President of LWNF) went to same remote and rural village of Gairimudi, Dolakha district in Nepal.

As planned the team went to see a small girl Ashmita Ghising and her mother, who are living in an extreme condition, working hard whole day. The two member family lives in a small hut supported by woods on the bank of the river. Sometime landslide threatens their home from the uphill while sometime flood threatens from the bottom. The only source of the family is biting stone for the concrete which hardly earns them a euro a day. This earning wasn’t enough for the family to expense for the little girls education after spending it for daily food. With the help of supporter from France, the team provided some educational materials to the child and some money to support her study.

After was done far that family, the team headed to the main village which was about two hours journey by foot from the river bank. Walking continuous for about 2 hours in the rocky uphill, the team reached the village in the late afternoon. On the next day, team meet 2 students (Shankar and Roshan) in the early morning, whom the foundation (family fromm france) has been supporting from the past few years. They were also provided with some educational goods, toys, clothes and some amount of money.

Then the team went to visit the home of another student (Susmita) who is also supported by the foundation (same family). The team met the student and provided with the same support as like to Shankar and Roshan. The team also consulted with their teachers about their progress in the study and to further improve it, than, they also visited to their school to observe the condition of the school. The foundation had supported financially to the school to improve water system and latrine in the school. Where, they observed that the funds were used in well manner. The school had constructed a water tank for the water system in the latrine and did maintenance in the system.

Similarly, the team visited another school, which is the only primary school in the village. The foundation had planned to create a child friendly environment in that school so, a team from the foundation had colored the classroom and toilet during their visit in the last month. This time the team visited to the school to consult with teacher to further work out in that school. The classroom looked far beautiful than before.

Returning from the school, the team visited a very poor family, who lives at a narrow uphill. The family had a four member, a mother with two boys and one girl. They had a small hut, which has too weak with nothing much to eat and leave. Nothing to be tidy, the team consulted with that family to better understand then and their situation. That has a Moktan family the name of the two boys were Ashok Moktan (10 years old) and Arjun Moktan(9 years old) while a girl, shanta moktan was 11. Fortunately they go to school but the school is to far located in the steepy hill which takes more than half an hour on foot to them. But for the people like us it is in the distance of 1 hour on foot. The team provided some goods to these children same as to other boys and girls. The team also provided some amount of money to the family supporting to the children for their studies was not only important to this family but supporting this family to live also very important as this family is very poor that really needs help even to live. With the more hopes and ideas the team, walk down back to the river and then returned to Kathmandu.
